Explosion-proof motors for hazardous-area applications

We don't supply the motor as a separately UL/CSA-certified component. Instead, we build it using UL/CSA-approved materials, so it can be certified by you as part of the mandatory certification of your machine or equipment. Certifying a motor on its own only makes sense when the identical motor is sold to many different customers — and since every Elnor motor is custom-built for a single application, that route adds cost without benefit. This way your motor is a perfect fit for the equipment while keeping the path to North American approval clear.

A lot of regional certification marks are based on international (IECEx) standards, and in many cases our IECEx certificate is a solid base for quick regional certification by our customers. We support this process where possible.

An external Exd box is expensive, requires additional space, additional wiring, extra mounting brackets and increased assembly labour. By integrating components directly inside Elnor’s certified flameproof enclosure, you eliminate these hardware layers, lower assembly time and significantly reduce total costs.
